Social Characteristics
The following characteristics highlight what teachers may see in students with O. D. D. It is important to note that students displaying these types of social characteristics not be judged based on these alone. According to the DSM IV, students must be assessed by a professional based on comparison to other students at the same age in terms of social characteristics, along with the behavioural characteristics in order to be diagnosed with oppositional defiant disorder.
1. Student often argues with adults
2. Student often actively defies or refuses to comply with adults' requests or rules
3. Student is often touchy or easily annoyed by others
